The Gift
Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.” Mathew 2:1,2
For many at Christmas, the focus is on gifts – the giving of gifts, and even more, the receiving of gifts. But – is there any such thing as a perfect gift? A gift that gives giving for your entire life?
When the wise men from the East went searching for the King of the Jews, they bought with them gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh. They did not know that the gift of Jesus was far greater than the worth of the gifts they had bought Him. God gave Jesus as a gift to us, and Jesus gave His life to save us.
This Christmas, let us unwrap and embrace Jesus, the perfect gift of God, and unfold the gift of the Holy Spirit, so that Jesus can come alive in each of our lives. Let us each take a moment and reflect on the value of God’s perfect gift to us.
