Hebrews (part 10): The Time to be Strong
For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say:
“The Lord is my helper;
I will not fear.
What can man do to me?”
Hebrews 13:5, 6
The temple was still standing. It had yet to be destroyed. But Paul was nearing the completion of his last warning to the Jews before they were faced with the shock of the destruction of Jerusalem. What he had to say to them is what we also have to hear. Our world is rapidly heading towards its end. How do we keep moving forward? What is our ultimate goal? How do we get there?
We are running a marathon, and the last thing we want to do is hit the wall, resulting in our giving up on the race when the finish line is in sight. It is easy to get tired of waiting. We have stuff in our lives that hurts us. We have stuff in our lives that distracts us. The only way to get to the end is to embrace Jesus, allowing God’s holiness to give us the victory. He will “make you complete in every good work.” Hebrews 13:21
