Hebrews (part 7): The Blood Makes the Difference
Peter continues his exploration of the book of Hebrews and opens for us a universe where the ultimate and final solution for the problem of sin has been accomplished. No longer are daily sacrifices needed and the annual cleansing of the sanctuary has been replaced forever when Jesus sat down at the right hand of his father in heaven.
The author of the old covenant had been trustworthy but the Hebrew peoples had failed. The old tent sanctuary and the temples that followed were symbolic copies the heavenly sanctuary and it was Christ’s last will and testament that the blood of animals had been superseded by a perfect sacrifice – the blood of Christ. The author of the book of Hebrews shows us that Jesus’ sacrifice removes forever the guilt of sin upon the whole of the human race. He entreats us to live holy, redeemed lives with the privilege of direct communication with God in the heavenly Holy of Holies.
Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. Hebrews 9:12
