Charissa Torossian
Teach Us To Pray
“In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name…” (Mat 6:9)
During her talk, Charissa explores the model of prayer given to us by Jesus in the Lord’s Prayer. Each element of Jesus’ example prayer opens up to us our relationship with our Father in Heaven, and our dependence on Him for our spiritual and physical needs. Prayer is a direct connection with God through the atoning merits of Jesus, and is a invaluable gift to us from God.
Prayer is the opening of the heart to God as to a friend. Not that it is necessary in order to make known to God what we are, but in order to enable us to receive Him. Prayer does not bring God down to us, but brings us up to Him. (Steps to Christ p 93)
