 Anagrams of Truth

Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and HOW can we know the way?” John 14:5

Preaching on the day before his daughter’s wedding, Glen begins with the idea that it is not HOW we get married, but WHO we marry, that determines our future happiness. Just like us, the disciples of Jesus were often focused on the HOW. Jesus had come to earth to show what God was like. But the HOW can become a barrier to the WHO.  A marriage commitment will only work if we spend the rest of our lives cementing the WHO, not focusing on addressing the HOW. God is relational by nature. The disciples were confused. They were trying to understand the truth but they still didn’t know the way. How can we know the way? Only by focusing on Jesus. If we really want to know the HOW…know the WHO. 

Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He WHO has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? John 14:9
