Proving the Credibility of God – Part 4
Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words. Daniel 10:12
Daniel was afraid. He couldn’t sleep. He couldn’t eat. Wasn’t the length of time for the Jews captivity to be 70 years? But the last vision had a time period of 1270 years. He had thought that their freedom was near at hand, but instead it seemed to be an event so far off in the future as to be unimaginable. In Daniel 10-12 God sends a heavenly being to Daniel to explain what he couldn’t understand. Daniel is at the very beginning of the prophecy, but the prophecies he has been given take the world right through to the end of time. The purpose of prophecy is so that we can see God’s hand over everything that happens in the world. We are living in a challenging time today. God has promised that his people would be delivered, and we can know from prophecy that God’s promises are true. “Those who are wise shall shine like the brightness of the firmament.”
“At that time Michael shall stand up,
The great prince who stands watch over the sons of your people;
And there shall be a time of trouble,
Such as never was since there was a nation,
Even to that time.
And at that time your people shall be delivered,
Every one who is found written in the book.
2 And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake,
Some to everlasting life,
Some to shame and everlasting [a]contempt.
3 Those who are wise shall shine
Like the brightness of the firmament,
And those who turn many to righteousness
Like the stars forever and ever.
Daniel 12:1-3
