Craving a Blessing
And he arose that night and took his two wives, his two female servants, and his eleven sons, and crossed over the ford of Jabbok. He took them, sent them over the brook, and sent over what he had. Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!”
Genesis 32:22-26
Jacob was afraid. He had not seen his brother Esau for twenty years, but, the last time he had seen him, Esau had wanted to kill him. Wrestling for his life with a stranger in the dark he suddenly realised that he was wrestling with God. Jacob begged God to bless him. Later that morning he and Esau met and embraced. How different would our lives be if, when struggling with the difficulties of this world, we reached out for the blessing of God? God is always there waiting to shower us with blessings. All we need to do is hold onto Him and He will bless us.
Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written in it; for the time is near.
