A Word of Warning
By which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 1 Peter 1:4
The apostle Peter was energetic and impetuous. He was also a very practical man. In the last days before his execution he was moved to send a last message to the young Christian church that he had worked hard to establish. The elements of Second Peter contain everything that Peter considered crucial for the trials they would face in their Christian experience. He warned them about the danger of false prophets and false teachings and that they would be challenged in many ways, particularly as the end of time approaches. He also exhorted them not to forget that God never changes and to remember that what He did for them in the past, He will continue to do in the future.
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen. 1 Peter 3:18
